Communication Twins

Within our Inquiry topic of Communication we have been practicing how to communicate clearly with each other. 

We had a go at sitting back to back with a buddy and giving them instructions to follow. We called this Communication Twins.

We used coloured rods and simple pictures which one person described to their buddy. The buddy then had to follow the instructions on how to create the same image without seeing it. 

When we had compared images we had a chat about whether our communication was clear enough and also how we could improve.

It was lots of fun!

Room 9 and 9a Poetry Festival Finalists

Room 9 and 9a did such a fantastic job practising and presenting their poems to the class. Mrs Burge and Miss Roberston are so proud to be your teachers. You have shown a lot of courage to stand up in front of the class and give it a go. You are all awesome!

Mrs Venville came to present us with our certificates.

 

You were all amazing - it was such a hard decision to choose the three presenters. Well done guys!

 

Lilly has some awesome new learning and Olivia A has a challenge for the class.

Lilly and her Mum were both interested to find out that a giraffe's horns are called ossicones!

Wow Lilly! Mrs Burge did not know that giraffes horns are called ossicones either! Emily and Lydia didn't know either! Thank you for teaching us something new!

Olivia A has a challenge for her classmates...

You are good at running your tummy and patting your head Olivia. Mrs Burge tried it and could do it but she has a challenge for you too! Can you pat your tummy and rub your head???

That is very hard!!!!! Mrs Burge couldn't do it.

Lilly has been investigating Communication

 After our discussions and research, we decided to practice our sign language alphabet and the paradise song which Lilly has really enjoyed doing since seeing it in assembly. 

We also made our own telephone out of coffee cups and string and had some funny chats from different rooms of the house.

Imagine what Lockdown would be like if we didn't have the technology we have nowadays to communicate with each other???

Lilly has been creative

 Look at the amazing face mask Lilly made with her Mum today. 

She made one for her brother too. 

Week 2 Koru Whanau Assembly

On Friday we had a Koru Whanau assembly

Rooms 21 and Room 23 performed an item.

We had 6 children who received a certificate.

Look how proud they are! Their Mana GEMS are shining through!
