Diwali with our Buddies

On Friday 13th November, Room 9 ventured outside to make Rangoli art with our buddies from Room 1.

First we had to collect flowers, leaves and sticks. We walked around the end of the field, along the garden beside Room 1, then up to the nature walkway.  It didn’t take long to fill our containers.

After that, we sat outside the music room with our buddies and helped them to create a symmetrical piece of art.  We found this to be a very relaxing and ‘mindful’ activity to do on a hot Friday afternoon.

When the weather was brighter Noah and his family headed to the beach to look for crabs. That looks like a fun outing Noah!

He told his mum some facts about monkeys and then he wrote them down.

Home learning and school bubble learning

Issy has been working from the GEMS slide. She has been helping at home by collecting the newspapers and letters from the letter box.

Issy has made a poster showing all the things she likes about school. I am very happy to see that Miss Robertson is featured!

Lucy has made this awesome game with her Dad. Its called "Tilt to win". You have to tilt the box to try and roll the ball into the tubes and see how many points you can get in one minute. Lucy's record is 257 points!!! Woah that is awesome Lucy. Very inventive!

Lucy has been practising her phonics and reading each day and she wrote a card to post to her Nana. That is such a good idea Lucy, I bet your Nana will LOVE receiving it!!

Tohu has been practising his skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. Check out his awesome efforts this morning working all by himself!

Eve had a bit of a sad beginning to her week saying goodbye to her Au pair. But Eve has a new Nanny now and look at these delicious treats they have made together!!

I will be sure to follow this recipe for Afghans Eve! They look so yummy and I must say the decorations are especially amazing!!
💫

Issy has been making daffodil flowers out of a Lego bag!

Good thinking Issy. What a wonderful way to recycle your Lego bag! Such a beautiful daffodil, all ready for Daffodil Day!

Guess what?! I was at school today supervising the school bubble and we made daffodils too!

It was so lovely to see Luca again! He made a daffodil with Charlie, Theo and Yasmin today.

We made them out of yellow and orange crepe paper and skewer sticks wrapped in green crepe paper.

Maybe you would like to have a go at making some at home?
Here is the link to teach you how.

Thank you for all the awesome work today everyone! See you tomorrow!
Miss Robertson😺

Home and School Learning from Indigo, Issy, Aelene, Noah, Tohu and Luca

When the sun was shinning Indigo was out on her scooter doing some clever balancing tricks!

Indigo has enjoyed working on the Reading Eggs app on her iPad too!

Indigo has also been playing pretend. Here she is pretending to be her Mum working from home and taking video calls! Indigo you almost had me fooled for you Mum!

Issy has used the GEMS slide growth to become an inventor and create a new machine!

Can you see what kind of machine Issy has invented??

I think Room 9 could do with having a "Tidy Tainui 2000" in our class! What do you think??

Issy has used the writing slide to make a recipe for her favourite food. Mmmmm pancakes they are one of my favourites too!

Aelene has been practising her maths at home.

Wow! You are so clever Aelene, those are some tricky problems!

Noah has been busy at home learning about aroha and practising his writing.

He has chosen the writing slide to describe his favourite animal. Can you guess what it is??
Noah has been practising his reading too. Watch the video below to see how he is using the back of his word cards.

Tohu has been working hard everyday on his reading, writing and maths. Watch the video below to see him read his own writing from today!

Luca has been at school today with Yasmin.

Together they worked on some puzzles. They found it best to use the flat sided pieces first then the ones with corners.

Wow! I am so proud of you all for working really hard at home (and school). Give yourself a pat on the back and say.... "Marvelous me!"

Looks like a fun activity to do together!

Bridie has been using the learning at home slidedeck and chose to work from the writing task. Can you guess which animal she is decribing?

It's so nice to hear that you can talk to your classmate Indigo over the fence during lockdown!

Look at all the sight words Bridie has been practising! Wow! Keep up the awesome work Bridie!

Aelene made a poster for our school! Wow it is beautiful Aelene! I spy a playground and is that the school cat??

Issy and Lucy have been busy doing the work from the writing slide too. Look at all the wonderful clues they have written to describe their favourite animals.

Issy has used the Te Reo slide and made a poster about washing your hands, played number bingo and practised the names of her body parts all in Te Reo! Ka pai Issy!
