Week 8 in Room 9 and 9a

We had a busy week last week. Here is what we got up to.

Lily and Olivia received Mana certificates in the assembly. Well done girls!

We had a great time in the pool on Monday.

On Thursday Room 9 did some Santa crafts with our pre-school visitors who will be starting school at the beginning of next year.

Awesome beard curling on your Santa, Caleb!

On Friday Room 9's Year 6 Buddies surprised them with handmade Christmas cards and letters!!

We are so lucky to have such kind, caring and creative role models in the school. We will miss you next year Buddies!!

Diwali with our Buddies

On Friday 13th November, Room 9 ventured outside to make Rangoli art with our buddies from Room 1.

First we had to collect flowers, leaves and sticks. We walked around the end of the field, along the garden beside Room 1, then up to the nature walkway.  It didn’t take long to fill our containers.

After that, we sat outside the music room with our buddies and helped them to create a symmetrical piece of art.  We found this to be a very relaxing and ‘mindful’ activity to do on a hot Friday afternoon.

Buddy Class

Today we had some time with our Buddy Class.

We have a year 3 and year 6 buddy to make friends with.

Today they read a book to us from our library corner.

Harry and his buddies read a book about Dinosaurs! Harry's favourite!

We all had a great time and made lots of new friends.

Buddy Class

Each year a younger class buddies up with an older class and they get together once a week for Buddy Class.

This year Room 9 and 9a will have two buddy classes!
We will have Room 13 which is a Year 3 class with Miss Bycroft as the teacher and Room 1 which is a Year 6 class with Mrs Croll as the teacher.

On Friday we got together and introduced ourselves to our brand new buddies.

We have a Year 6, a Year 3 and a Year 1 as three buddies together.

Once Miss Robertson's class fills up we might have to have some groups with two Year 1 children in them.

We introduced ourselves.

We drew pictures together.

We sang Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi together.
It was so cool getting to know each other.

We can't wait to have our big buddies supporting us for events like the PTA TRYathlon and the Big Walk which is coming up over the next couple of weeks!
